Centennial Golf Club Review
This is a John Fought
designed course and is managed by OB Sports.
This is an excellent course
located in one of the valleys around
The fairways are firm (and
wide). The rough is plush and tight
(about 1 inch high) making the ball sit up on top. There is 3 foot tall ryegrass for the deep
rough, making it difficult to find a ball hit into it. This deep rough is played as a lateral
hazard. The wide fairways, some 100
yards wide, give ample room to stay out of the deep rough.
If traveling up/down I-5,
this course is well worth stopping for the day and playing.
In an interview with Vince
Domenzain, General Manager, the following was discussed:
For the foreseeable future,
there will be no on-site lodging.
There will be Stay & Play
packages, partnering with some local hotels/motels.
The green fee rates will be
in the $60-$70 range, with no senior rates.
Power carts are sold by the seat.
There will be seasonal rates
as well as special rates for the four surrounding counties.
You can park your RV in the
parking lot for the round of golf, but no overnight stays.
The permanent club house will
be completed in September.
The tall ryegrass was not
planned, but just grew that way with good rain and sunshine. Plans are to cut the ryegrass down to a
manageable height.
